Continuing with the Valentine's Day puns in my last post, I made some cookies I've been dying to make for years - airplane cookies. I fly to work in my day job, so it's always fun to combine my two worlds.

These Valentine's Day-themed airplane cookies are "flying!" The perfect gift for anyone you care about. I know I know. A little, but that's to be expected for Valentine's Day. Is it good?

Vintage Airplane Cookies For A Sweet 1st Birthday!

I've been looking for airplane face cookie cutters but no luck. So I created mine and made them available to you!

There are two types of airplanes in my shop. One is in the corner of the plane. The other is the front face of a biplane.

My fellow airliners may be horrified by the lack of refinement of these airline cookies compared to the real deal, but the cookies are meant to be delicious. In general, the shape of the cookie cutter is not good and short, while the elements are combined with the blade in the design. This is to ensure that there are no fragile parts that can easily break during use.

I have provided a downloadable template for the design concept shown below. I included both the side plane and the front face biplane in the template file.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, print (or shoot on your mobile device) and you're all set. For those who don't have a projector, follow the suggested steps below by cutting out the template and using an edible pen to draw it onto the cookie.

For this tutorial, I will show you how to decorate airplane cookies. However, the two wing cookies are very similar, so the decorating techniques shown below can be applied to both creations.

Using the template as a guide, start by marking the sides of the plane with a pencil. If you are using a projector, feel free to skip this step.

Next, attach the circular disc for the center of the propeller motor with white nails. Then apply the white protective coating.

Draw and fill the wings and tail with red icing. Leave these areas to dry completely (about 1 hour).

Add the nose cone details to the white frosting and the blue frosting. Then, with red icing, draw and fill in the circular ring area and the propeller motor. Again, allow these areas to dry completely and dry (about 1 hour).

Aren't these cookies just "flying" good? To complete the set, I placed my tossing cloud inside a small heart cookie, along with a message cookie with the phrase symbol. It is sure to put a smile on everyone's face.

Large Aeroplane Cookies

United States Airlines uses Oreo Thins instead of Biscoff cookies among free snacks for budget travelers. approved

The airline will continue to serve economy passengers the famous Dutch stroopwafels, which were reintroduced last year and are frequented by pretzel and cookie lovers alike.

However, Biscoff cookies aren't gone forever. United spokeswoman Andrea Hiller said they are part of a rollout that is currently being considered for Oreo Thin, but not completely removed as an option.

"It's about giving people a choice," he said. "Stroopwafel is loved by all, but Biscoff cookies can go around again. Oreos too."

Introduced in 2015, Oreo Thin are Oreos with a skin that is about half the width of the original Oreos. They are low in fat and low in calories, making for an even healthier eating experience.

Oreo Thin has about 35 calories per cookie, compared to about 60 per Biscoff cookie. There's no word on whether the airline's beverage aisle will carry more milk to allow people to drink their Oreos for free.

For those who want their Biscoff fix high, Delta and Alaska Airlines will continue to serve the beloved cookies. Oreo Thin will begin to be used on United flights in March.

While Biscoff fans are clamoring for the change, others are wondering if United will hand out toothbrushes so passengers' teeth don't get covered in black Oreo shards as they get off the plane.

When contacted by email, a United representative explained: "We are pleased to see the inflight meal options are so well received by our customers. As promised, we are keep changing our menu for variety. Our customer-favorite Stroopwafel. stays in the mix, with Oreo Thin in March. Biscoff fans, fear not, they'll be back on board in May."

Cookie lovers may not agree with the Biscoff for Oreo swap for a while, but one thing is for sure: airplanes leave stroopwafels!
